Blessings in Trials

Elia Morise, Switzerland

With great gratitude and joy, I report on our Arab Islam training which took place at Midnight Call’s home office in Switzerland.

The participants came from Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Canada. They are all Arabs; some come from an Islamic background. Our main motto for the training was Colossians 1:28-29: “Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.”

For the first time, there were also children present. We were able to offer a special training program for children ten and over, which was good because the children are asked a lot about their faith in school. The instruction for adults proved to be very intense. It included practical training in Stuttgart (Germany), namely street outreach in cooperation with the local Aramaic and Arab church there. We set up a large book table, with many different tracts, CDs, Bibles, and New Testaments. We distributed all of this for free.

On such occasions, a challenge from the enemy is naturally expected. In the middle of the seminar, a brother from Lebanon (who was here with his wife and two children) suffered a heart attack and had to go to the hospital. Among the seminar team and the ministry, we prayed intensely for him. He was treated, and in the last days of the seminar, was able to attend again. One particularly joyful and relieving piece of news was that his insurance provider in Lebanon would cover the costs, which wouldn’t necessarily have been the case for expensive treatment in Switzerland.

Another challenge came when we were on the way to Stuttgart with the ministry’s minibus.

I drove the bus, packed with literature; the heat was stifling. There were eight other people on board, including two children. Suddenly, we had a flat tire. Thank the Lord, however, that everything could be repaired in about 90 minutes, and then we proceeded with our outreach on the streets.

Visitors to the training on Islam are active as evangelists in their countries, despite their work life. That is why we are very grateful for all the prayers and gifts that made the training and street outreach possible. As the Lord wills and we live, [this] year we will offer training for other groups between July 24 and August 6, 2019.
