Faith in Stormy Times: Youth Conference in Rehe

Joshua Keller, Germany

In early July 2019, Midnight Call Ministries held its second conference for young adults in the Westerwald Christian Guest Center in Rehe.

Hartmut Jaeger (director at Christian publisher CV Dillenburg), Nathanael Winkler and Elia Morise (pastors for Midnight Call), and Stephan Beitze (Midnight Call missionary in Argentina) gave talks on faith in stormy times. For three days, the 70 youths focused intensively on the second, testament-like letter from the apostle Paul to his young follower Timothy, so that one day they can also testify with Paul, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Tim 4:7). Hartmut Jaeger shared his thoughts: “God’s Word is absolutely reliable, timelessly valid, and always accurate. In times of relativism, God’s Word shows constancy. We have an incredibly strong message: Jesus Christ has defeated death and brought life to light. Paul isn’t ashamed of this message, because he knows whom he believes: Jesus Christ is the most important person. The relationship with Him is what constitutes our Christianity! So we may know: although man lives toward death, as a Christian I die toward my life.”

Stephan Beitze emphasized that when we’re close to the Lord, we can resist temptation. And Nathanael Winkler showed in his lecture that nothing has changed since Paul’s time: even today the Christian life is a struggle, and we find the way of victory in the apostle’s farewell letter to his faithful companion of many years.

The conference mutually strengthened and encouraged everyone present to hold fast to the Word of God in these times. On the wonderful grounds, there was also ample time for games and sports in the beautiful weather. Another youth conference is planned in Rehe for August 27-30, 2020.
