Preach the Word!

Jonathan Malgo

Recently, I read that the word Laodicea (name of a geographical location in the Middle East) can mean, among other things, “People’s Rights.” Laodicea, the seventh church addressed by the Lord in Revelation (3:14-22), is a picture of how Christianity today busies itself with a variety of social concerns. An amazing amount of energy is spent protecting our Constitutional Rights. It is, of course, good for us as Christians to go out and vote. That is one of our fundamental rights, which we should exercise. But what I am thinking about are protests and demonstrations, organized and carried out in the name of Biblical principles. That is sad, because it expends a great deal of effort and is not our mission: we cannot change the world.

What did Paul write to Timothy? “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word” (2 Tim 4:1-2a). And that is precisely what we aim to do with our Midnight Call magazine: proclaim the Gospel in view of our Lord’s soon return.

Today, I want to ask all our readers to support us in that mission. First of all, with prayer, for we do need prayer support as we carry out our work. And secondly, if possible, to win a new reader to the Midnight Call. Why that request? Well, not in order to gain a higher number of subscriptions, but simply because we want to convey the following message to many more people: Jesus will return very soon! Let us put all our energy, not into safeguarding our “Rights,” but into the privilege of spreading the Gospel.

Heartfelt thanks for all your support.
