BRAZIL - Asking Cuban Doctors for Help

Arno Froese

The executive secretary of the Ministry of Health, João Gabbardo, said in an interview to Newsletters that the agency will convene Cuban doctors who participated in the Mais Medicos program to help control the epidemic of the new coronavirus.

Medical students will also be called—from the sixth year of the course—to work in primary health care.

According to Gabbardo, the measure is to help replace part of the medical workforce that is lost during work, as doctors also suffer from the contamination.

“We lose in the course of the disease. Even if their symptoms are mild, they have to be isolated in order not to transmit the disease to their patients,” he explained.

“These five thousand doctors who are going to be called, will go to primary care across the country. And we will do more than that: we are going to call all the Cuban doctors who were working on the program initially., 16 March 2020

Arno's commentary

When Jair Messias Bolsonaro was elected president of Brazil in 2018, he ordered Cuban physicians and healthcare professionals out of the country. Now he apparently needs them desperately.

According to the CIA Factbook, life expectancy for Cubans stands at 79.2 years, with 8.19 physicians and 5.2 beds per 100,000 in population. In contrast, Brazil’s life expectancy is 74.7 years, but only 2.15 physicians and 2.2 beds per 100,000. Nevertheless, the coronavirus pandemic has reached Cuba as well. The first coronavirus cases were reported 12 March 2020.

Other articles proclaim that Italy, the UK, Venezuela, Jamaica, and other nations are attempting to enlist Cuban healthcare professionals to help battle their coronavirus cases.

We emphasize: something is happening in the invisible world.

While we do not think that the coronavirus will end in Armageddon, it is certainly an event foreshadowing the things to come, as we can read in Revelation 16:14: “For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.”
