CUBA - Scientists Make Progress in Covid-19 Vaccine

Cuban scientists are making advances in developing two vaccines against COVID-19, Soberana 1 and Soberana 2, which are currently in the clinical trial phase, local press reported.

The general director of the Havana-based Finlay Institute of Vaccines, Vicente Verez, said progress is being made in the clinical trials for the first two formulations of the vaccine, according to the official newspaper Granma.

Verez said recent clinical trials for other vaccines being developed abroad have shown a large difference between animal and human responses, which has led Cuban scientists to design various formulations of the vaccine to better evaluate immune response.

The Cuban vaccine formulas are based on a recombinant protein, in contrast to other vaccine development projects, in which adenoviral vectors or inactive viruses are being used., 4 October 2020

Arno's commentary

Communist Cuba, a country of over 11 million people, is listed by the CIA Factbook as being 60% Christian, with life expectancy of 79.2 years. GDP per capita is $12,300 (2016). It is well-known for its medical services, with 8.3 physicians and 5.3 hospital beds per 1,000 population.

How successful will their vaccine be? Only time will tell. We must emphasize here once again: the whole world is involved. This is one of the end-time events that glues the nations together, in preparation for a truly peaceful, prosperous, and secure world—albeit temporary.
