GERMANY - First Coronavirus Vaccine Trials

Arno Froese

Germany gave the green light for human trials of potential coronavirus vaccines developed by German biotech company BioNTech, which is racing teams in Germany, the U.S. and China to develop an agent that will stop the pandemic.

The trial, only the fourth worldwide of a vaccine targeting the virus, will be initially conducted on 200 healthy people, with more subjects, including some at higher risk from the disease, to be included in a second stage, German vaccines regulator the Paul Ehrlich Institut said.

BioNTech said it was developing four vaccine candidates under a program named BNT162 with its partner, pharma giant Pfizer.

Tests of the vaccine were also planned in the United States, once regulatory approval for testing on humans had been secured there., 22 April 2020

Arno's Commentary

Contrary to Italy, Spain, the UK, and France, Germany has not been affected to the same degree as its neighboring nations. There are multiple different opinions regarding the reason. Germany’s healthcare service is one of the best in the world, but that can be said for virtually all European nations. Life expectancy stands at 81.1 years, with 4.21 physicians and 8.3 beds per 1,000 in population.

Germany is not the first to test a new anti-coronavirus vaccine; there are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of medical facilities throughout the world doing likewise. Will they succeed? We do believe so. The coronavirus has caught the entire world by surprise; all are literally in the same boat. This, as we mentioned in previous articles, will contribute to a closer relationship between the nations of the world. One must correspond to the other. International laws will be implemented and eventually enforced. Will that be the end? We know it will not, because the book of Revelation states that much more is to come. The next virus may well be worse than this one.

Such facts should lead us ever closer to the Creator, who has provided salvation to all who will call upon His name. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
