IRAN - Military Stronger Than Israel

Arno Froese

Israel’s military has slipped below its arch-nemesis Iran in the ranking of military powers, ranking 16 out of 137 countries, according to the international defense site Global Firepower (GFP).

It was the third year in a row that Israel fell in the site’s ranking, falling one spot from the previous year and down five spots when it ranked 11th in 2016. Iran, meanwhile, climbed to 13th in 2018 from 20th in 2017.

According to the defense site, it only takes conventional military capabilities into account when compiling and factors in another 55 criteria, such as the range of weapons in its arsenal, amount of available manpower, abilities of the local defense industries, as well as natural resources, geographical size and economic strength.

A comparison between Iran and Israel shows that while Iran has significantly more naval assets than Israel (398 versus 65), Iran has a total coastline of 2,440 km. compared to Israel’s 273 km.

Israel has far greater tank strength (2,760 assets versus 1,650) and has some 10,575 armored fighting vehicles, compared to Iran’s 2,215. The total amount of aircraft between the two countries are close, with Israel having 596 aircraft versus Iran’s 505., 22 January 2019

Arno's commentary

While this sounds somewhat alarming, one must keep in mind that, at Israel’s beginning in 1948, they started with about 30,000 soldiers against approximately 100,000 Arab soldiers. The outcome was a decisive Israeli victory, and so it has been for each following war since.

Today’s Iran has a population of about 82 million, compared to Israel’s 8.3 million. These figures are known to Iran, yet their chance to beat Israel militarily is virtually zero.

But there is more, and that is in the unseen world. Prophecy is being fulfilled continuously, and the God of Israel today is the same as in Elisha’s day: “And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the Lord, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha” (2 Kings 6:16-18).
