ISRAEL - Elbit Signs Deals Worth $150 Million

Israeli weapons maker Elbit Systems inked two international deals worth over $150 million.

Elbit said it had been awarded $130 million in contracts to provide artillery munitions to an unnamed country in the Asia-Pacific region.

The contract will be carried out over a period of two and a half years and will include building an industrial complex to produce the munitions, Elbit said.

Elbit said it had secured a $27 million contract to provide Sweden with tank ammunition.

Elbit is the manufacturer of the Hermes armed drone and cutting-edge surveillance technology, among other products.

Elbit publicly trades on the NASDAQ in the US, as well as on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. Its US share price has been climbing since the summer after remaining largely flat for years.

The war in Ukraine appears to have given the company’s stock an additional boost, as its share price jumped close to 40 percent since mid-February. Countries in Europe, including economic powerhouse Germany, have decided to update their armed forces and increase military spending since Russia’s invasion., 29 March 2022

Arno's Commentary

Israel is technically at war with a number of Arab countries, as well as the non-Arab nation of Iran. Yet visitors to Israel usually agree it’s one of the most peaceful countries in the world. Comparing crime rates, for example, with the USA, Israel is like an ultra-safe paradise.

Because they had to defend the existence of their country for over 70 years, the defense industry has developed into a world leader.

Presently, Western nations are scrambling to obtain effective defense systems in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Thus, we see the nations that have been shouting “Death to Israel” have actually elevated Israel as the leading nation in the defense industry.

The message to Christians is clear; we read in Luke 21:9-10: “But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.” Note the words, “be not terrified.”
