ISRAEL - Israeli Schools Eliminate Teaching Evolution

Arno Froese

“There are matters of greater importance!” With this justification, Israel’s Department of Education has minimized academic time spent on Darwin’s theory of evolution in the country’s schools. Teachers were instructed to deal with evolution “as little as possible”; though students in the higher grades could still choose the subject as an elective course. The reason for the new policy is not that educators in the Holy Land question the theory of evolution, but that they are of the opinion it has no practical value for everyday living.

Thomas Lachenmeier, editor-in-chief of the Swiss periodical factum, opines this turn in Israel’s education policy is due to the fact that “the Hebrews are such marvelously pragmatical people.” Fast-growing sciences in our days such as biotechnology, mimic processes and materials that are found in nature. “The most successful sciences are those that implicitly proceed from creation.”

Arno's commentary

This statement is quite surprising and very factual. “Evolution…has no practical value for everyday living.” And, the last sentence: “The most successful sciences are those that implicitly proceed from creation.”

Evolutionary education has taken up quite a chunk in the academic world. But it is based exclusively on a theory, and that with many holes in it (the lack of evidence such as the multiple missing links). Here Romans 1:20: “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.”
