ISRAEL - PLO Suspends Recognition of Israel

Arno Froese

The Palestinian Central Council, the Palestine Liberation Organization’s second highest decision-making body, decided to entrust the PLO Executive Committee with suspending recognition of Israel, according to a declaration issued at the conclusion of a Central Council meeting.

The PLO recognized Israel in 1993 before signing a number of agreements with Israel, which established the Palestinian Authority.

“[The Central Council] decided to assign the PLO Executive Committee with suspending recognition of Israel until Israel recognizes the State of Palestine along 1967 borders, annuls its annexation of east Jerusalem and halts settlement building,” the declaration said.

The Central Council also decided to renew a decision it made at a past meeting to end security cooperation with Israel “in all its forms.”

The last time the Central Council met in March 2015, it voted to suspend security coordination between the PA security forces and Israel.

But according to PA Police Chief Hazem Atallah, security coordination was never completely halted, and was fully restored in late October., 15 January 2018

Arno's commentary

Arab-Palestinians continue to fight a losing battle. While they do have most of the world’s nations’ sympathy, they fail to implement the fundamental principles of human rights. Public places and some streets are named after convicted murders, calling them martyrs. The entire educational infrastructure of Arab-Palestinians insists on anti-Israel propaganda, most of which has no factual foundation.

In the meantime, Israel continues to build subdivisions on land owned by the Israeli government, privately purchased land, and land designated as security zones after Israel’s defensive wars against its Arab neighbors. Under normal conditions, there would be no question about the territory conquered with weapons of war. That, we repeat, is how all the nations of the world were established. But Israel is different, and the world opposes. Thus again, we have an absolute guarantee of the truth of the prophetic Word; Israel will always stand alone. In spite of amazing success diplomatically, not to mention scientifically, Israel is different; it is God’s chosen, and for that simple reason the world is forced to oppose it more or less.
