ISRAEL - West Jerusalem Is Israel’s Capital, Moscow States
No other country in the world recognizes any part of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
Russia recognizes west Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated in a surprise announcement.
The statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry reads, “We reaffirm our commitment to the UN-approved principles for a Palestinian-Israeli settlement, which include the status of east Jerusalem as the capital of the future Palestinian state. At the same time, we must state that in this context we view west Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.”
While officials in Jerusalem interpreted this to mean that recognition of west Jerusalem as Israel’s capital will only come once east Jerusalem becomes the capital of a Palestinian state, The Jerusalem Post has learned that Moscow intends for this recognition to go into effect immediately.
Though this would be the first recognition by any country of any part of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, Israel may be wary of applauding such a move, since it annexed all of Jerusalem in 1980 and deems the entire city—not just the western half—its capital.

Jerusalem is more than a city in the Middle East, in the heart of Israel. Jerusalem is the chosen residency of God the Creator. “And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem” (Ezra 7:15). “But I have built an house of habitation for thee, and a place for thy dwelling for ever” (2 Chronicles 6:2). “Blessed be the Lord out of Zion, which dwelleth at Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord” (Psalm 135:21). Isaiah prophesied, “Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the Lord of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously” (Isaiah 24:23).
Politicians, by whatever name, may say what they want, but the Word of God overrules all man-made resolutions and ordinances. “Thus saith the Lord; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the Lord of hosts the holy mountain” (Zechariah 8:3). Where will it lead? “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it” (Zechariah 12:2-3).
