Israeli cybersecurity firm Cybereason has raised $100 million from Japanese telecommunications giant SoftBank Corp., the company announced.

Cybereason secured SoftBank’s investment in the firm’s fourth financing round, bringing total investments to for the past two years to $189m. Based in Boston, with a research and development center in Tel Aviv and offices in London and Tokyo, Cybereason provides automated cyber-attack endpoint detection and response.

“Cybereason’s products are truly amazing,” SoftBank president and CEO Ken Miyauchi said. “SoftBank tested a number of cybersecurity products from all over the world, but Cybereason’s products are by far better than those of their competitors. We strongly believe Cybereason will be one of the global leaders in cybersecurity.”

The company’s cybersecurity technology and monitoring services have protected hundreds of Fortune 1000 companies from highly advanced attacks, including, most recently, the global WannaCry Ransomware attack, a statement from the firm said.

“Software is the most powerful force in today’s connected world,” Div said. “People can use its power for good or evil, and the mission of Cybereason is to stop the adversary from gaining an unfair advantage by giving our customers the upper hand.”

Arno's commentary

Israel is on her way to be crowned world headquarters for high-tech firms.
