Around 360,000 foreign nationals obtained Russian citizenship in 2019, head of the Russian Interior Ministry’s department on migration Valentina Kazakova told Rossiya-24 TV channel.

“Since 2013, the number of foreign nationals wishing to obtain Russian citizenship has been growing. Last year, around 270,000 foreign nationals obtained Russian citizenship, but the number today stands at over 360,000, which represents considerable growth,” Kazakova said.

There are many Ukrainian nationals among those seeking to obtain Russian citizenship, she noted. “This year, over 130,000 Ukrainian nationals obtained Russian citizenship.”

“Kazakhstan’s nationals come second, followed by Tajikistan’s nationals. They are mostly people from the CIS [Commonwealth of Independent States], of course,” Kazakova said., 12 December 2019

Russia is by far the world’s largest country, at 17,098,000 square kilometers (USA 9,833,000 sq. km). The population is 142 million, and is ethnically divided into 77% Russian, 3.7% Tatar, and 1.4% Ukrainian. The economy is listed by the CIA Factbook at $4.015 trillion for 2019. Per capita GDP was $27,900 for 2017. Religiously, the country is divided between 15-20% Russian Orthodox, and 10-15% Muslims (2% other Christian). These listings are far from accurate, since for seven decades it was ruled by the Soviet leadership, where the official religion was “none.”

Prophetically speaking, there is much speculation about Russia invading Israel, based on Ezekiel 38—39. One of the startling statements is made in Ezekiel 38:13, speaking of the Arab nations, which covetously ask the question: “Art thou come to take a spoil?” That is a rather difficult passage in prophetic Scripture, since Russia is probably the richest country in natural resources in the world and does not need or require “spoils” from the land of Israel.

Nevertheless, what is written will come to pass, and only time will tell how this will all develop. But the end of this invasion is recorded in two verses: “Then shall they know that I am the Lord their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there. Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord God” (Ezekiel 39:28-29).
