UK - Israeli Anti-Drone Technology Ends Gatwick Airport Chaos

Arno Froese

The British Army reportedly deployed advanced Israeli anti-drone technology after unmanned aerial vehicles caused the UK’s second-busiest airport to completely cease operations for almost 36 hours.

Britain deployed the military and police snipers to combat drones that were identified flying near to Gatwick Airport’s runway, leading to the cancellation of over 800 flights and travel chaos for 120,000 passengers.

Specialist equipment deployed by the British Army to enable the reopening of the runway included the deployment of Rafael’s Drone Dome system, according to the Daily Mail.

Rafael describes the Drone Dome as an “innovative end-to-end system designed to provide effective airspace defense against hostile drones used by terrorists and criminals to perform aerial attacks, collect intelligence, and other intimidating activities.”

Earlier, Argentinian authorities also relied on Israeli anti-drone technology to protect world leaders at the 2018 G20 Buenos Aires summit.

The Drone Guard system, developed by Israel Aerospace Industries subsidiary ELTA Systems, blocked several suspicious drones approaching summit venues and hotels hosting foreign delegations. The system was also deployed in October to secure the opening ceremony of the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympics., 21 December 2018

Arno's commentary

Here we may justifiably say: Israel to the rescue. Drone technology is developing at such a fast rate that yesterday’s technology seems already outdated today. Israel is probably the only country that is actively building intelligence-based equipment to fend off possible enemies. In the north of Israel, Hezbollah is publically declaring to wipe out the Jewish State. The president of Syria, Assad, declared peace can only exist when he puts his feet in the Sea of Galilee, claiming it to be Syrian territory. In the east is Iran, which continuously threatens Israel’s destruction. These facts show that Israel must be one, if not two steps ahead of the rest of the world.

Psalm 33:12 declares Israel’s uniqueness: “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.”
