UK - Worst Killer Flu in 50 Years

Arno Froese

Hospitals are bracing themselves for the worst flu epidemic in 50 years with news that the strain sweeping the UK has claimed lives in Ireland.

UK Government statistics show that 1,111 people were struck down with flu [in a] week—a 156 percent jump on the previous seven days.

The sharp rise has been triggered by the unusual case of two aggressive subtypes attacking the population in tandem, according to data from Public Health England.

Usually just one subtype, either influenza A or B, attacks during the flu season. But this year Britain has been hit by so-called “Aussie flu” a strain of influenza A which wreaked havoc on hospitals in Australia during their winter.

“This is potentially the worst winter since the Hong Kong flu of 1968,” said Professor Robert Dingwall. A subtype of influenza B is proving to be equally virulent with [the week’s] figures showing 522 cases of influenza A and 546 of influenza B recorded across England and Wales.

Nick Phin, of PHE, said: “Flu activity, as measured by a number of different systems, has continued to increase. “This is to be expected as the season progresses and at this point the numbers are in keeping with previous years.

“The circulating flu strains match those in the current flu vaccine, so the vaccine remains the best defense against the virus.” However, researchers predict that the flu vaccine may be only 20 percent effective this winter, just as it turned out to be last year., 2 January 2018

Arno's commentary

Until this day, medical science has found an answer to innumerable diseases in the past, and based on that fact, the future will see medical science master this “worst killer flu” as well.

But, there is more to come, according to prophetic Scripture. Revelation 9 tells us that when the fifth angel sounded the trumpet, an angel from heaven opens the bottomless pit, resulting in something shocking: “And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them” (verses 5-6).

Worse yet, the last two verses of that chapter declare: “And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts” (verses 20-21).
