USA - Globalism and Immigrants

Arno Froese

“Immigrants have started more than half (319 of 582, or 55%) of America’s startup companies valued at $1 billion or more,” the analysis. “Moreover, nearly two-thirds (64%) of U.S. billion-dollar companies (unicorns) were founded or cofounded by immigrants or the children of immigrants. Almost 80% of America’s unicorn companies (privately-held, billion-dollar companies) have an immigrant founder or an immigrant in a key leadership role, such as CEO or vice president of engineering.”

The research is an update of NFAP studies in 2016 and 2018. However, due to the growth in billion-dollar companies, the 2022 study involved gathering and verifying information on the founders of more than 580 unicorn companies tracked by CB Insights. “Unicorns” are privately held companies (i.e., not traded on the stock market), valued at $1 billion or more that have received venture capital financing.

According to the analysis, 58% of immigrant-founded billion-dollar companies had only an immigrant or multiple immigrant founders, with no native-born founders.

Arno's Commentary

In some segments of American society, immigrants are assumed to be a burden. Not so as this article documents. Immigrants are the backbone of American global innovation. This also explains the virtually miraculous success of Israel, just declared a nation in May of 1948. Jews from over 80 countries make up the population.

Not surprisingly, multinationals have the say, the authority, the power, and the success stories. Quite apparently, internationalization is at least somewhat responsible for the near complete peace the world has been experiencing during the last few decades.

Although the Russian invasion of Ukraine threw a wrench into the gears of international cooperation, it is of temporary duration and will actually reinforce globalization.

Presently, much news is heard about the Taiwan and China conflict. But globalization seems to be a great stumbling block for China to take over Taiwan. The CIA Factbook reports that Taiwan’s exports to China stand at 26%, with imports from China representing 21%. To upset these numbers would cause near economic catastrophe for the entire world.

We are reminded of the Church, the one of Jesus stated, “I will build my church.” We are the real globalists, a truly international family. We reside on all continents, in every country, while speaking different languages, practicing diverse cultures, and being subject to various types of governments; we are one solid family. First Corinthians 3:16 declares: “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” What will happen when this spiritual temple is perfected? The eternal One, the Creator of heaven and earth, will take possession of it—that’s the Rapture.
