VIETNAM - First Direct Flights from Israel
Economy and Industry Minister Nir Barkat has orchestrated a significant advancement for Israeli travelers, enabling them to reclaim 8.5 hours of travel time on journeys to Vietnam.
An agreement was inked with Barkat’s Vietnamese counterpart, establishing a direct flight path from Israel to Hanoi.
The first flight is expected to take off in October 2023, and after that, two flights will be operated weekly by VietJet Air. Currently, there are no direct flights between the countries.
The opening of this route will facilitate business activities between the countries, Barkat said.
In addition, Vietnam’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Nguyễn Hồng Diên, agreed to waive the prerequisite of obtaining a conventional written visa for entry into Vietnam. Instead, Israeli nationals will be granted access through an electronic visa, saving time and money.

Commentary
Despite increased negative coverage of Israel in the media (such as the uproar over judicial reform), new positive developments are occurring between Israel and various countries. In this case, Vietnam has opened up direct flights from Israel, as well as making the visa process easier. The stated reason is to “facilitate business activities between the countries.”
There is no doubt that Vietnam sees the enormous benefits of maintaining good relations with Israel, due to their business and tech prowess. However, in the future it will be Israel’s knowledge of God that will attract the nations: “Thus saith the Lord of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you” (Zechariah 8:23). -By K.
