Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Turn ye unto me, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the Lord of hosts” (Zechariah 1:3).

There is a tragic, fateful turning point in the lives of many Christians when they turn away from the best that God wants to give them. Solomon turned around on the path of obedience to the Lord, and the Lord took the kingdom from him. Hymenaeus and Alexander turned away from the path of living faith, became blasphemers and were delivered unto Satan. The Church of Jesus Christ is in great danger of turning away from the way of the Lamb, for she is leaving her first love; if she does not repent, her candlestick will be removed. The Lord calls urgently and continuously to us to turn around. He does it gently and fervently, “Turn ye unto him from whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted” (Isaiah 31:6). He does it lamenting, “My people are bent to backsliding [turning] from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him” (Hosea 11:7). He calls forgivingly, “I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee” (Isaiah 44:22). He also calls promisingly, “Turn ye unto me…and I will turn unto you” (Zechariah 1:3). Remember, your prayers asking Him to turn to you only make sense if you are willing to turn to Him.
