Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14).
Consistent faithfulness in pursuing the goal is what is needed. Have you let yourself be distracted from the goal the Lord has set for you? How urgently the letter to the Hebrews warns us, not to lose sight of the goal, “We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away” (Hebrews 2:1, NIV). Our goal is always Jesus! We should become more like Him, more and more united with Him, and more and more filled with Him. How can this take place? Through prayer, sanctification…treading the path of the Lamb. Especially now in our day this applies to us: keep the goal in sight! Let Him cleanse you of all material and selfish goals. Have you gotten lost in a side street of sin? Then you cannot see the goal clearly. If you have somehow become distracted from the goal, go back to where you left the straight and narrow way. Go to the cross, to the crucified One. The night of judgment is coming over our generation. A paralyzing darkness of futility and purposelessness has come over man. Blessed are those who have chosen Jesus as their goal! The Lord is coming again!
