Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions” (John 14:1-2).

How wonderful the first day in the Father’s house will be! We all know of “first days” in our lives, the first day at school, the first day at work. They are all unforgettable days, especially the first day of our spiritual lives, the day of our conversion. The memory of this should always remain alive in our minds. It should not be the case, however, that you say, “The first day after my conversion was the most glorious.” You also need this glory, this fervent love that you had then, today. You have the same Savior today as you had then. The Scriptures say He is, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Hebrews 13:8). The first day you experience in eternity will also be the last day for you on earth. We must not ignore this tremendous fact. The Psalmist does not say for nothing, “Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” (Psalm 90:12). The fools who behave here on earth as though they would live forever are shortsighted, for the moment will come for us all when we have to cross the threshold into eternity, often suddenly and inevitably. On this day we will spend our last day here on earth and the first in eternity.
