Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown” (Revelation 3:11).

The Lord still has not come; He is still waiting. But we are looking out undeterred for the moment when we shall be changed and receive a body “like His glorious body,” and be raptured to Him with inconceivable speed to meet Him in the air. Now, however, we find ourselves exactly in the period of time of which the Lord says, “While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept” (Matthew 25:5).  I emphasize, on this last stage of our journey we are all in danger of becoming tired and going to sleep. Paul writes to Timothy, “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils” (1 Timothy 4:1). Those who do not walk before the Lord in all truth will become tired and open to the lying doctrines of demons. To walk in all truth means to put on the whole of Christ, “Put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 13:14). He alone is the truth. Whoever puts Him on remains awake and receives power to overcome, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony” (Revelation 12:11). Stay awake!  If you have already fallen asleep, the Lord is calling to you, “Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light” (Ephesians 5:14).
