Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation” (1 Peter 1:15).

Conversation could here be translated “conduct” or “way of living” (see Amplified Bible). What does it mean to walk with God as Enoch did?  In his life I see two things:
• A holy conversation. Enoch spoke with God, and God spoke with Enoch. They talked about everything together. We can only walk with God when we have this continual, holy conversation with God, and only in this way will our conversation be a conversation in heaven. Are we examples in our conversation or conduct? The holy conversation with the Lord takes place through Bible reading and prayer.
• His sanctified pace. How must we walk with the Lord? “He that saith he abideth in him, ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked” (1 John 2:6). This means, not too fast and not too slow. Tired Christians are those who have run ahead of the Lord, made plans, and suddenly noticed the Lord has not blessed their plans in spite of their prayers. God does not want you to make plans, but He wants to reveal His plans to you. Keep in step with God! Christians who lag behind are those who walk too slowly, who are too lethargic to obey. Are you walking with God?
