Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29).
Did you know that this Jesus, who hung on the cross and died for you, is the Creator of all things? Did you know that the eternal God does not get tired or weary (Isaiah 40:28)? His understanding is unfathomable. He bears the whole universe. We hear much about the laws of nature, but there is only one, because everything is borne by one person: Jesus Christ. We read in Isaiah 9:6, “The government shall be upon his shoulder.” It is as though the Holy Spirit would say, “This Jesus, the eternal Son of God, is so strong that He carries the whole of the universe on one shoulder.” Now read Luke 15:4-5. There you see Him as the Good Shepherd. He has become man, and speaks here of the hundred sheep that He has; when He loses one, He goes and looks for it until He has found it, and then He lays it on His shoulders. Where the lost lamb is concerned, He needs two shoulders to carry it! Do you think these strong shoulders could ever collapse? Never! Why not? Because they collapsed under a burden that was heavier than the whole universe: “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” He collapsed for the sake of our sins, but death could not keep Him. He rose and lives!
