Prepared Hearts, and Timely Messages
The ministry in Uruguay regularly receives responses from our radio listeners via WhatsApp.
One woman thanked us for the encouragement she received through the message she heard when she was actually planning to take her own life. Many of those who write to us used to be members of a church, but made wrong decisions that led them down paths that ended in disappointment. Now they’re trying to survive spiritually through messages they find on the radio or online. We always emphasize in our correspondence with them that a church is essential for spiritual health.
In May, we once again held two online conferences with prophetic and edifying messages. Two gifted Argentine preachers, Eduardo Cartea (Bible teacher at various Bible schools) and Daniel Oubel (Bible teacher at Word of Life), spoke under the theme Cita en el Cielo (“Appointment in Heaven”), concerning the judgment and marriage of the Lamb and about our glorious hope in Jesus Christ.
Like we do every year, we distributed our popular Radio El Libertador wall calendar in businesses and shops in the region, along with a tract. We gave each of our correspondents a Bible as a gift. And during our monthly tour, we distributed “The Good Seed” calendar to customers, correspondents, and friends of our programming. May this sowing bear fruit!
This last summer vacation was a special time for the children and young people of the Brethren churches, who enjoy summer camps by the sea. Many life decisions were made there. And thanks to generous donations from our congregation, several children from the slums were able to attend, even though their parents could not (or did not want to) pay for the camp.
Last year, our church had the joy of seeing a group of young people and a woman from Cuba be baptized. One of the young people, Nahuel, had started seeking God on his own. This astonished his parents, who were worried he’d end up in a cult. This is how he appeared to us one day, with his heart already prepared to meet Jesus. You don’t often get to experience that!
