Lose Salvation?

I like reading Midnight Call. I have a question. Do you believe that once you give your life to Christ, repent and are converted and baptized, that you cannot lose your home in heaven? What if you become lax in prayer and His Word and fall back into the sinful life? Your life is taken at this point; you have not repented and been forgiven—what about your eternal home? Were not the angels once saved who were expelled from heaven?I have been taught that you can lose your salvation if you have unrepented of sins on your conscience and you die without repenting.I would appreciate your comments on the above. Keep up with the Lord’s work.-E. Stoller, OH

Arno's Answer:

Please distinguish between your person in flesh and blood and the new person, born of the Spirit of God.  The latter is perfect and untouchable for the enemy, “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God” (1 John 3:9).  Flesh and blood is sin; not only subject to committing sins, but is sin.  Yet in that sinful flesh dwells the Holy Spirit, the newborn person.  Life as a Christian is a lifelong battle, as we can read about in Galatians 5:17.

What happens to a person dying with unforgiven sin?  He may “suffer loss” at the judgment seat of Christ instead of earning reward (1 Corinthians 3:15).

If my behavior affects what God has created, then I must work for my salvation and therefore invalidate the perfect work Christ has accomplished on Calvary’s Cross for me. Colossians 2:10 states, “ye are complete in him.” To teach that what God has created is subject to man’s behavior is contrary to Scripture.

As to the one-third of angels cast out of heaven, angels are not subject to salvation.
