Does God still consider Israel His chosen people?

Absolutely! It is very important to remember that God's covenant with the Jews is based solely on His expressed will and faithfulness. Historically, Israel repeatedly has broken God's law; they have been disobedient and rebellious. Nevertheless, God used Jeremiah the prophet to write the following words regarding His people: “Thus saith the LORD; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth...If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever” (Jeremiah 33:25; 31:36). The message is clear: As long as the sun continues to rise, and the moon and stars are still visible at night, Israel will continue to be a nation before God. This is important because Israel was not a nation and the Jews were scattered all over the world for 2,000 years. However, from God's perspective, it was only a minor intermission in His eternal plan of salvation; Israel never ceased to exist as a nation.
