Will Christians experience persecution?

Persecution is a part of the Church's existence. Believers have been persecuted right from the start in Jerusalem, then later by the Roman institution. Many members of the Church continue to suffer until this very day. Historically, the Church has also suffered persecution under communism, at the hand of Muslims and other religions. Every child of God will experience a certain measure of tribulation. Sometimes tribulations can manifest themselves physically, and other times they can attack our spiritual lives to the point that we doubt our salvation. But that does not mean that we should expect open persecution in all parts of the world. This contradicts the verses that admonish us to obey our government and to try to live at peace with all men. Furthermore, deception does not run parallel to persecution. You can't deceive someone by persecuting him.
