UN - Save Global Cooperation

The United Nations General Assembly adopted a “Pact for the Future,” which U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres described as a landmark agreement that is a “step-change towards more effective, inclusive, networked multilateralism.”

The pact, which also includes an annex on working toward a responsible and sustainable digital future, was adopted without a vote at the start of a two-day Summit of the Future. The agreement came after some nine months of negotiations.

“We recognize that the multilateral system and its institutions, with the United Nations and its Charter at the center, must be strengthened to keep pace with a changing world. They must be fit for the present and the future—effective and capable, prepared for the future, just, democratic, equitable and representative of today’s world, inclusive, interconnected and financially stable.

“Today, we pledge a new beginning in multilateralism. The actions in this Pact aim to ensure that the United Nations and other key multilateral institutions can deliver a better future for people and planet, enabling us to fulfill our existing commitments while rising to new and emerging challenges and opportunities.”

Arno's Commentary

Carl Teichrib writes in the September 2024 issue of The Berean Call, in an article titled “Ambassadors in Babel,” the following:

One of the [Global Future] 2045 Congress speakers, a religious leader delighted by the unifying promise of technical transcendence, pieced together a boast with words that were not his own: “You are the light, you are the truth, you are the beginning, you are the end.”

Bold? It’s more than that.

Here’s another example from Mark Pesce, a pioneer in web interfacing, as excerpted from his documentary, Becoming Transhuman:

“We seek, therefore, to bless ourselves with perfect knowledge and perfect will, to become as gods, take the universe in hand, and transform it in our own image, for our own delight. As it is on Earth, so it shall be in the heavens, the inevitable result of incredible improbability, the arrow of evolution lifting us into the Transhuman, an apotheosis through reason, salvation attained by good works.”

Unity at all costs is the ultimate goal of all peace-loving movements and organizations. But peace, prosperity, and security, they claim, can only come about by “becoming transhuman”; in other words, self-made gods. Doubtless, progress in that direction will be made, which is necessary for the world’s population at large to follow.

But the Bible—the eternal Word of God—is so different: “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen” (Ephesians 3:20-21).
