USA - Safety-Focused AI Raises $1 Billion
Safe Superintelligence (SSI), newly co-founded by OpenAI’s former chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, has raised $1 billion in cash to help develop safe artificial intelligence systems that far surpass human capabilities, company executives told Reuters.
AI safety, which refers to preventing AI from causing harm, is a hot topic amid fears that rogue AI could act against the interests of humanity or even cause human extinction.
Sutskever, 37, is one of the most influential technologists in AI. He co-founded SSI in June with Daniel Gross, who previously led AI initiatives at Apple, and Daniel Levy, a former OpenAI researcher.
Sutskever is chief scientist and Levy is principal scientist, while Gross is responsible for computing power and fundraising.
SSI says it plans to partner with cloud providers and chip companies to fund its computing power needs but hasn’t yet decided which firms it will work with.

Arno's Commentary
Artificial intelligence (AI) presently seems to be the number one technology in the electronic/information field.
What is not surprising is the Jewish heritage of these founders. Daniel Levy’s father, Lord Levy, was a devout Jewish immigrant from north London. Daniel Gross was born in Israel, and Ilya Sutskever comes from Russia of Jewish origin.
It seems that when it comes to anything to do with AI, investors are eager to jump in, since it is the future, promising great returns.
Again, we are reminded of the uniqueness of the Jewish people. Estimates of the worldwide Jewish population range from 14-18 million, but this tiny minority is responsible for over 21% of Nobel Prize recipients. It was Ralph Waldo Emerson who said, “If a man’s eye is on the Eternal, his intellect will grow.” Another person, Charles Murray, argues that the reason for Jewish intelligence “harks back to the very founding of Judaism as a law-intensive community.” Ben-Tzion concludes his article with, “May we be intelligent enough to bring God into our lives and reach greater levels of understanding of the divine.”
In the end, the center of the world will be established again in Jerusalem. Zechariah proclaims: “And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain” (Zechariah 14:16-17).
