Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake” (Psalm 23:3).
Those who know the depths of this promise become strong and comforted and are not discouraged. If He is leading you in the paths of righteousness for His own name’s sake, how can anything be wrong in your life? All your fears, all discontent, despondency and complaining come from unbelief. Let me tell you again personally: the Lord will only be honored and praised through your taking His promises for you seriously. When it says here, “He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake,” it means for Jesus’ name’s sake. The promises of the Bible are guaranteed, sure and certain in the precious name of Jesus. Second Corinthians 1:20 says, “All the promises of God in him [Jesus] are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” This assurance of being led in the paths of righteousness comforts our hearts. The same David who had this assurance also exclaimed, “I will run the way of thy commandments” (Psalm 119:32). It is like we are entering a blessed divine circle; then it is so easy to be obedient, because we are in His way.
