Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. Let all your things be done with charity” (1 Corinthians 16:13-14).

What is a car without an engine? What is a body without a spirit? What is a born-again person without a victorious faith? It is important to ask these questions, for in our day we are not only experiencing inflation of all values in the material realm, but also the inflation of faith is a terrible fact. Faith is no longer victorious. The Bible emphasizes the indivisibility of these two facts, however, “This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” (1 John 5:4). It does not say, “Our faith wins the victory,” but “our faith is the victory.” We must admit to ourselves that faith divided from victory is in vain. This is the reason that Paul admonishes, “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves” (2 Corinthians 13:5). In other words, where is the engine of your faith? Nothing is moving; victory, power and joy are lacking. Why is everything at a standstill? My friends, this question is vital. This is also the reason that Paul says, “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.”
