Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered” (Romans 8:26).
Just as a person is only alive if he is breathing, a person only has spiritual life if he is praying. Prayer is an expression of divine life. It is the indispensable connection with the living God. Do you pray? I do not mean the customary prayer before a meal or before you go to sleep. I do not mean the prayers that you utter when you are in trouble or danger, even if they really come from your heart. I mean prayer in fellowship with other believers. Whether a church is alive and has many born-again believers cannot be told from the number of people who attend the church service on Sunday, but by the number of those who pray in the prayer meeting. Dear reader, have you a spirit of prayer, or are you just religious? If you have been born again, it is not you who prays, but the Spirit of God prays in you. Many believers fail where the holy duty of prayer of the Church is concerned. The unanimous prayers of the Church have particular promises; therefore, Satan’s intent for you is not to attend the prayer meetings. Repent over your failure and hasten to the prayer meeting in your church!
