Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12).
A child of God is exposed to many trials. The silence of a cemetery is a deathly silence. But where there is life, there will be battles. A person who knows that he is risen with Christ, who is born again, knows simultaneously that he will be severely attacked by Satan. Satan sends enemies to him who mock his faith, and also makes trouble for him through his own sinful desires. A nominal Christian does not need to fear these things. He is not dangerous to Satan’s kingdom. The true child of God, however, is always on the offensive where the kingdom of darkness is concerned. Ephesians 6 is his suit of armor. He knows that the Lord has left him on this earth to proclaim the redeeming Gospel to other souls that are still bound. And he knows that because his “Yes” to Jesus is active, the “No” of the devil is active toward him. Have you shed tears on account of severe outward and inward trials? This is a good sign! The Lord Jesus said, “In the world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
