Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” (1 John 5:4).
The born-again Christian has victory over trials and sin. Victory is the glorious result of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. When He cried out, “It is finished!” (John 19:30), He had become Victor over Satan, sin and death. All those who are in Christ, those who are born again, are also victors in Jesus. Even if a Christian is tempted and feels his own weakness and impotence, he does not stop there, but gives thanks for the victory of Jesus Christ that has been given him. Does a born-again Christian become such a stronger person? No, he is all the weaker, but Jesus lives in him. “Christ in me” is the guarantee of victory in our daily lives. The new birth is not a theoretical invention, something unreal, but a tremendous, overwhelming event in a person’s heart! Jesus Christ, God Himself, takes up residence in our hearts through His Spirit. He Himself overcomes through the born-again person. Therefore, the person who has come to the cross may rejoice, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” (Romans 8:1).
