Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul” (Leviticus 17:11).
The blood of Jesus is the saving element! When He hung on the cross and carried away the sin of the world, the whole universe was affected. This second spiritual “nuclear fission” took place for your and my salvation, however. While the first “nuclear fission” separated mankind from God, at the second the way to reconciliation was paved. The evangelist Matthew tells us that a darkness came over the whole land and that “…the earth did quake, and the rocks rent” (Matthew 27:51). What tremendous powers were released through the death of Jesus—not only in nature, but above all in the spiritual realm! No other power than the blood of Jesus was able to separate you, who were a negative element with sin, death and Satan, from the power of darkness and to unite you with God. God’s Son, Jesus Christ, accomplished this saving “nuclear fission” through His death on the cross, by being made to be sin Himself. Why does the blood of Jesus have such great power? Because in His blood Jesus poured out His eternal life. He gave it as an atonement on God’s altar.
