Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of his coming?” (2 Peter 3:3-4).

With prophecy it is often similar to how it is with prayer: exactly the opposite of what we ask for takes place. Instead of being saved from our troubles, they become greater. But true children of God do not let themselves be discouraged. They know that when everything they see and experience contradicts their requests, God’s answer is very near.  Often the opposite of a certain prophecy takes place first, and the enemies of God mock us. Sanctified children of God, however, know, even see what is taking place in the invisible world, although it is not yet seen in the visible world. An example of this is the prophecy of the prophet Isaiah, that Babel and the glory of the Chaldees will be overturned by God like Sodom and Gomorrah. Or, as the prophet Jeremiah says, that Babel will become a pile of stone and a dwelling place of jackals. This prophecy is still yet to be fulfilled in its finality. But it is coming ever nearer; it is already within the realm of its fulfillment.
