Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live” (Ezekiel 47:9).
According to my knowledge, the Jordan is the only river that the triune God used to reveal Himself. We find this in Matthew 3:16-17, “And Jesus [God the Son], when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God [God the Holy Spirit] descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: and lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I [God the Father] am well pleased.” Oh, that you would grasp this today! The triune God concentrates on Calvary: there where the blood of Jesus flowed, there where the death of the Lord Jesus became reality. The holy God only unites with a person who has passed through the “Jordan” with his sins. Those who say “Yes” to Jordan, those who say “Yes” to the death of Jesus, must reckon with great resistance, for the whole of hell will attack him. If you go through the “Jordan” today, if you take the crucified One seriously, then there will be war! But the enemy is overcome. You may rejoice with David, “Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident” (Psalm 27:3).
