Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?” (Romans 9:20).

These words tell us that it is presumptuous of us to ask the living God, our Creator, “Why?” There is only one justified “Why?” in the whole of human history, and that was when the Lord Jesus cried out on the cross, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46). There are mysteries and depths of God which we humans with our finite intellect can never fathom. All eternity will not be sufficient to search out or exhaust His being. As infinite and eternal as He is in His existence, so infinite and eternal He is in the glory of His being. This again means that we can never fully fathom the nature of God. For this very reason, however, the message of the Gospel is so precious. He sent Jesus, our Savior. Jesus said, “He that hath seen me hath seen the Father” in John 14:9. And through Jesus the possibility of victory is given us, “Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57).
