Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God” (Isaiah 50:10).

Our spiritual trials and temptations are very deep and severe. To have victory in them, we first need victory over our emotions. The human spirit is the seat of the Spirit of God. Our spirit grasps what is eternal. This is why it is the goal of the enemy to lead our spirit into darkness. The Lord allows these trials so that we can claim the authority of the victory of Jesus, “Behold, I give unto you power…over all the power of the enemy” (Luke 10:19). What can we do in practical terms when our spirit is led through unimagined depths of darkest night? Trust in the Lord—even when we feel nothing! When we receive no answer from above, when everything seems closed to us and we are led through an inner night, let us do what Isaiah said, “Trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon [our] God.” When we cling to the Lord, we come into the victorious attitude of Job, who cried, “I know that my Redeemer liveth!” (Job 19:25).
