Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions” (Psalm 107:20).

We often underestimate the miraculous power of the Word of God. It has an eternal, healing, renewing effect. “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever” (1 Peter 1:23).

If this Word is able to generate new life, is it not also capable of refreshing, healing and renewing our tiny, temporal lives? What did the centurion say to Jesus? “Speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed” (Matthew 8:8).

In times of sickness, we often get things the wrong way around. We seek healing for our bodies without our souls being healed first through the Word. If the soul is not healed, however, you have put the cart before the horse, and the torment will begin anew. You sought only to remove the effect and not the cause. We must seek the healing of our soul first; that is done through His Word: “Speak [thy] word…and…servant shall be healed.” Jacob cried as the sun arose at Peniel, “I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved” (Genesis 32:30).

Has your soul been healed? Before you seek physical healing, seek the healing of your soul through the Word in faith. Then you will also experience miracles where your body is concerned.
