Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“Cast not away therefore your confidence… ye might receive the promise” (Hebrews 10:35-36).
To do the will of God consistently, to be constantly obedient, is the key to discovering that He fulfills His promises. The key to experiencing the fulfillment of His promises lies in Jesus Christ alone. Every promise, however, has its own particular key. Take, for instance, the well-known words of Psalm 37:4-5, “Delight thyself also in the Lord…and he shall bring it to pass.” In these two verses, we have two promises and three keys belonging to them. The will of God, the key to the promise in verse 4, says, “Delight thyself in the Lord.”
He, the Lord, must be our highest priority, and only after Him do we come. By delighting in the Lord, however, our desires are sanctified. When this is the case, He fulfills our desires gladly, “He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
Let us consider verse 5 now, whose promise is, “He shall bring it to pass.” What are the two keys necessary so that He can “bring it to pass”?
• “Commit thy way unto the Lord,” and
• “Trust also in him.”
