Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Behold, I have prepared my dinner…come unto the marriage” (Matthew 22:4).

Often this invitation is given us in the Word of God, “Come!” It is the simplest thing in the world to respond to the call of the Lord. You worry and sigh and find no answer to your problems, but the Lord is simply calling you, “Come!” You who are lonely, come to the marriage feast, for everything is prepared. Fellowship with the Father and the Son is a reality for those who believe. John wrote in his first letter, “Our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ” (1 John 1:3).
Come, therefore, especially you, my weary brother and burdened sister. What does the Lord Jesus say that you should do? Does He speak of particular spiritual exercises, keeping days of silence, seeking new, better retreats? No, the Lord says quite simply, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden” (Matthew 11:28). Then He adds to His call to come to Him the promise, “I will give you rest.” I am aware that Satan wants to bring you into such stress that you simply cannot find the time to come to Jesus. Hear what He says, Come! And those who come to Him He will not cast out (see John 6:37). Remember, there is much forgiveness with Him (see Psalm 130:4).
