Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her” (Hosea 2:14).
The Lord wants to speak to us. A true child of God is conscious of this and is not annoyed when from time to time, the Lord holds up a red light in front of him saying, “Stop. Stand still for a moment.” “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). In other words, contemplate. O, the reverent, blessed hours spent at Jesus’ feet! The impatience we have toward unexpected circumstances and people shows how little we are capable of being inwardly still before the Lord. How long does our patience last? Usually, until we need it. The Bible speaks of patience with joy. In the above verse we read that the Lord leads His people into the wilderness to speak kindly to them. In the wilderness it is quiet. “Study to be quiet,” says 1 Thessalonians 4:11. Only in this way can we get through to the sanctuary. Do you have the necessary patience? Be honest, when you spend time in prayer, are you not drawn back to your work, instead of continuing in prayer? How long were you still in the presence of the Lord today? Has everything in you become still so He can speak to you? Let this message be a stop sign from the Lord for you, for He wants to speak to you. Then all stress and nervousness will disappear and you will go out into your daily life as a person who can cope.
