Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world” (1 John 4:3).

The lordship of Christ or anarchy. Just as Satan said at the beginning, “I will be like the most High” (Isaiah 14:14), so he is already attempting in these end times to be like Christ, i.e. to replace Christ. The lordship of Jesus in your personal life makes you capable of fulfilling the actual purpose of your conversion: to serve the living God. The choice is the lordship of Christ or anarchy, to serve or to rule. What does serving mean? Nothing other than self-surrender in favor of others. What does ruling mean? Self-assertion at the expense of others. The pseudo-ruler was overcome by the Servant. The Lord Himself told us this, “Whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant” (Matthew 20:27).

All pride, all self-assertion is a degradation of your personality. What is the power of serving? It is in the practice of the victorious lordship of Jesus. We see this revealed in the cross of Calvary. The Servant attained victory over the cruel rule, or ruler, through the surrender of His life.
