Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” (Hebrews 9:14).

What was the purpose of Jesus’ service for the living God? He poured out His life in His blood so that we could become capable of serving. The unlimited, victorious power of the service of Jesus is the source of the power of your and my service. In Jesus Christ, we have everything. How foolish it is, therefore, to surrender to anarchy and through it come under the rulership of the enemy.

Let us consider the nature of Jesus’ service. It had the element of complete free will. There is no compulsion to serve God. The Lord Jesus said of Himself, “No man taketh it [His life] from me, but I lay it down of myself” (John 10:18). Even in Joshua’s time, at the end of his life, we see this voluntary nature, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15). It takes only a free-will decision on your part, “I want to declare myself free of Satan’s power and live and serve under the King—and lordship of Jesus Christ.”
