Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God” (1 John 4:2).
The zealous study of the Word of God, and therewith the prophetic Word, is of immense importance for our spiritual lives. Peter says that we should take heed of it until “…the day star arise in your hearts” (2 Peter 1:19). But the door of the Word of God can only be opened with the key of diligence. The Holy Scriptures demand earnest study. They bear the divine seal of authenticity. Who can dare to treat them with indifference? Those who despise them despise God, who caused them to be written, inspired through His Holy Spirit. May the Lord keep each of us from turning away from His Word in indifference. The Holy Scriptures “grow” under quiet contemplation. They are full of surprises. I am always conscious of the fact that the pace of our time would keep us from Bible study. So we call all the more, “Search in the Scriptures!”; then the mystery of the victory of Jesus will be revealed to you to a much greater extent. David recognized the necessity of this searching in the Scriptures, and he exclaimed, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee” (Psalm 119:11).
