Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly” (Matthew 6:6).

I would like to say to all those who serve the Lord Jesus behind the scenes, do not be envious of those who serve the Lord in public, who are in the spotlight. These have many more battles than those who serve the Lord in the background and are not seen by men, but are seen by God. It is a gift of God if you are allowed to serve the Lord in the background. Not many people desire this, for we all like recognition, but serving the Lord in secret is pleasing to Him. “Man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). This will be read by many whose inner battles are unknown to men but known to God, for He sees our hearts. He sees that we come under the discipline of the Holy Spirit so we can serve the Lord with joy in spite of inner conflicts, tears and suffering, of which the world around us sees nothing. That is serving the Lord in “secret.”
