Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here?” (Numbers 32:6).

As members of the Church of Jesus Christ, we are intimately related to one another, bought by the same precious blood. Blood relationship brings obligation, however. We have received untold blessings through the many battles and sufferings of the saints of past times. Many had the true pioneer spirit of faith; they did not doze away in self-complacency. Through their faith, we are mightily spurred on to follow the Lord even more decisively. It is said of those in Hebrews 11:40 that they will not be made perfect without us. The Lord says through the prophet Jeremiah, “Cursed be he that doeth the work of the Lord deceitfully” (48:10). There is a note in the margin of the Scofield Bible, giving the alternative reading, “Cursed be he that doeth the work of the Lord negligently.”

I know the fear of trials is a great drawback for those who sit at home in peace and look down on the arena of the kingdom of God instead of entering it, but we are called to battle!

How can you receive a crown if you avoid the cross? If even the best Christians are purified through the fire, you will hardly be able to avoid testing. Arise today, for we are living in a serious time. The Lord of the vineyard wants to find us watching and praying when He comes.
