Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure” (1 John 3:3).
I believe that many temptations that are attributed to Satan, in reality come from a heart that has not been cleansed of all sin. Much nervous tension and irritability would be overcome in your life if you had not forgotten the cleansing of your former sins (see 2 Peter 1:9). The purification crisis is caused by your not keeping in step with the Lord. Enoch was not raptured by chance. It says of him, “Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him” (Genesis 5:24). In other words, Enoch kept in step with the Lord. Do you know what it means to run ahead of the Lord and not keep in step with Him? It means plunging yourself into religious activity without deeper cleansing in His presence. If we say, sing and pray things that do not conform with our inner self, we are only fooling ourselves. If you testify of something you have not experienced, it has no credibility, because the shadow of a purifying crisis has fallen upon your life. That is a demonstration of Christian powerlessness. Therefore, come to the light and permit Him to purify you today!
