Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly” (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

Sanctification of children of God is an important issue. Of God the Father it says in 1 Thessalonians 4:3: “This is the will of God, even your sanctification….” So whoever resists sanctification is rebelling against the will of God and finds himself in an inner crisis. Sanctification is also the urge of the Holy Spirit, for He is called in Romans 1:4, “…the spirit of holiness.” Whosever says “no” to sanctification, therefore, finds himself in a crisis of sanctification. The Son, Jesus Christ, has paved the way to sanctification for us. Hear His high-priestly prayer, “For their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth” (John 17:19).

Sanctification is so important that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are concerned with it. This is what Peter meant when he said, “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied” (1 Peter 1:2).
